Professional Bio

Chief Dan Seymour has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and has served as Chief of Police for the City of Red Bank, Tennessee, since 2019. An active member of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP), he has chaired the Training Committee and served on the Professional Standards Committee.

Seymour began his career as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Alabama before becoming a full-time officer, earning his Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training certification in 1992. In 1997, he moved to the Chattanooga area to join the Collegedale Police Department, where he served in multiple roles. He joined the Red Bank Police Department in 2011 and was promoted to Chief in 2019.

Throughout his career, Seymour has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, supervisor, internal affairs investigator, professional standards sergeant, project manager, accreditation manager, and TLEA assessor. He holds more than 20 instructor certifications, has taught specialized classes across Tennessee, and currently teaches at the Cleveland State Law Enforcement Training Academy.

He is a 2007 graduate of the Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy and completed Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command in 2015. Seymour also holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies & Behavioral Science from Athens State University, and an Associate of Science in Business Administration.
