Police Internal Affairs

This comprehensive course has been designed to present a model procedures approach for the needs and requirements of small, medium, and large public safety agencies. We will take you step-by-step through the process of conducting professional, thorough, and objective administrative and internal affairs investigations, as well as specialized investigation of sexual harassment and hostile workplace complaints.
Individual blocks of instruction will present in-depth information on the latest court rulings and nationally accepted procedures surrounding the complaint process and internal affairs investigations; employee rights; social media policies and guidelines; relevant administrative laws related to record-keeping; and the releasing of information to the media. Upon successful completion, you will have acquired the knowledge of investigative techniques and the understanding of legal guidelines necessary to function as internal affairs investigators to include cases that concern criminal violations and officer-involved shootings.
Advanced Homicide Investigation

This course will further enhance the skills you acquired in IPTM's Homicide Investigation course and supply you with the knowledge and abilities to handle even the most challenging homicide investigations. You will learn how to organize a complex homicide investigation and how to apply advanced forensic techniques to the case. We will discuss criminal profiling and abnormal psychology and you will learn specific interrogation techniques to use on the suspects.
Lectures during the course will be held to a minimum. Instead, emphasis will be placed on practical exercises. You will be provided the opportunity to apply the skills you have acquired while studying complex homicide cases presented by the instructors.
Crime Scene Processing Workshop

This hands-on course will provide you with the latest state-of-the-art techniques for crime scene processing. Emphasis will be given to recognizing, documenting, collecting, preserving, and analyzing physical evidence. We will focus on the interpretation of discovered evidence, its value within the scene and usefulness in solving the crime. You will participate in exercises that will give you experience in latent print development techniques, locating and collecting DNA evidence, using light energy to process a scene, and how to interpret bloodstain patterns and use chemical enhancement methods. You will also learn how to explain each technique in court.
Child Homicide Investigations - $395
Join us for an intensive training focused on understanding and building relationships between the forensic pathologist, homicide investigator, and prosecutor in successfully investigating and prosecuting child homicide cases. Learn autopsy protocols, forensic essentials, and the criticality of determining the cause and manner of death. Understand the unique aspects of investigating a child homicide including interviewing and interrogation, suspect pool development and the role and importance of the prosecutor in gaining appropriate convictions.
