Event Details

The Chief Executive Leadership Development Program (CELDP) is a 40-hour course developed through a partnership between the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP) and the University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center (UT LEIC). Designed for newly appointed Tennessee police chiefs and command staff, the CELDP is led by experienced law enforcement executives and subject matter experts from across the state.

The program includes 35 hours of in-class engagement, featuring direct instruction, leadership panels, working lunches, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. In addition, participants complete 5 hours of outside work focused on a written project.

The curriculum is structured around 12 core component areas, derived from the research findings of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Law Enforcement Leadership Initiative (LELI)—the most extensive leadership training initiative ever conducted by the BJA.
